Simple Turkey Burger

I couldn’t find a reason why shouldn’t we make burger at home. I don’t think anything is simple than cooking burger. The thing about homemade thing is that we know where everything came from and how clean it is. Every time we stopped by MacDonald I had to check every lettuce leaves in our burger if there is there a worm in it, because my friend used to get one in her burger. (We still go there every now and then though…)

Turkey is very healthy and it has less fat. It is so lean and it’s cooked real fast! We like to keep it simple without any extra. These juicy burgers are so perfect for a quick lunch.

Simple Turkey Burger (4 servings)

400 gm Ground Turkey

1 onion- finely chopped

4 cloves garlic- minced

1/2 tsp salt or to taste

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

4 burger bun

Butter

Ketchup or any of your favourite condiments

Combine ground turkey, onion, garlic, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl and mix well.

Divide into 4 equal parts and form them into patties.

Grease a skillet with some butter and heat it over the medium heat.

Grill the patties 3 minutes on one side and about 2 minutes on the other side or until the patties are cooked and golden brown.

Halves the burgers bun and spread some butter on each half.

Stuff the patties in the middle and add some ketchup and maybe some sliced onion or mustard or mayonnaise, etc. See! They’re ready!

We love to keep our burger simple, but I know people love big messy burger like adding salad, salsa, guacamole, baked beans, anything you can imagine…

So what you do to your burger?

Love,
Tes

  • yayyy..this is like my chicken burger version! way to go tes!

  • Hi Tes, thanks for stopping by my site! I’m subscribing to yours, I am loving all your entries — the food looks delicious and the trip to the zoo looks so fun. We don’t have anything like the performers with their heads in the alligators’ mouths here :] and no one but the workers is allowed to touch any of the tigers, even the babies.

In burgers, I use some or all of the following: chopped onion, lots of cilantro [coriander leaves are the same thing], an egg, a sprinkling of bread or cracker crumbs, coarse salt, lots of pepper, red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper, hot sauce [Tabasco, is kind of like chili sauce], ground cumin, worcestershire sauce, soy sauce — depending on how I am feeling and what we are eating it with :]

My boyfriend and daughter like cheddar cheese melted on top of theirs.
    I like the buns toasted.
My boyfriend LOVES when I caramelize onions for his http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/how_to_caramelize_onions/
I sometimes sauté mushrooms with butter or olive oil and garlic and a bit of salt to put on my burger.
Also lettuce, mayonnaise, catsup, mustard, barbeque sauce….

Not all of this at once!

We have a restaurant here that has a huge menu of burgers with all kinds of toppings if you’re looking for other ideas. My favorite is the French burger, I love having it on a baguette, they make the burger more of an oval shape so it fits.
