When I made flat doughnuts about a month ago, it became a big hit and many people had go crazy stuffed it with any imaginable things. Before I posted the recipe I have never stuffed them with anything. I thought they were just great with simple icing sugar or plain. But you guys really have opened my eyes. I have learned that these amazing doughnuts were wonderful with jams, custard, chocolates, almond butter, peanut butter, fruits and honey, etc.
So today I want to share another simple fried dough that we love. Again I hope that this recipe would excite you as much as the deep fried doughnut.
Infact, it is a flat doughnut recipe, but reduce the sugar so the dough won’t be as sweet.
This dough is great for stuffing like, meats, burgers, cutlets, salad, salsa, etc.
Deep Fried dough
Ingredients: (make 12 fried dough)
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp melted butter
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Oil for frying
Whisk sugar, egg, salt and butter together until sugar is dissolved.
Sift in whole wheat flour and baking powder and mix well.
Form the dough with your hand and knead gently for few minutes and rest the dough for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into about 12 parts and roll out into thin flat circle sheet.
Heat oil in the pan over the medium heat and fry these round sheets until golden brown and lightly puffed.
Simple Chicken Cutlets
Ingredients: (make 12 patties)
500 gm ground chicken
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
4 cloves garlic- minced
1 tsp pepper
1 onion- finely chopped
2 tsp oil for greasing
Combine ground chicken, salt, pepper, garlic, sugar and onion in the mixing bowl.
Divine into 12 equal parts and form into patties with your hand.
Heat the greased skillet over medium heat and grilled the patties until cook and brown both side.
Run knife or scissor through the side of the puffed dough to keep it open.
Spread some mayonnaise and ketchup or any sauce you like.
Stuff some delicious chicken cutlet in and it is ready.
I know now you might imagine what would you like to stuff these dough with- egg salads, salad, guacamole, salsa, chilies, sausages, cheese, seafood, etc.
As you see we also made homemade custard and filled this dough with it. It was my Yaseen’s favourite!
Can’t wait! Not too hot to handle!
