Blogging Messy

If you had visited my blog in the past 8 hours, you might think I have gone mad. You might wonder why I kept changing the design of my blog every 10 seconds and messed up the posts, also the scariest part where my blog turned blank. Well, I was almost gone mad!

When I log in my wp-admin this morning, I thought I might be able to improve the design or download a new cool plugin when I updated my current theme, Atahualpa to the newer version, Atahualpa 3.6.1 and 3.6.4. I did it and thought I was going to able to enjoy a lot of new options, but little that I knew… my whole site turned blank…nothing left accept the bright white screen. I was shock!

The first thing my instinct told me was to backup my database. I tried to configure the theme and still…. Blank. I tried to reinstall and still…blank.

So I tried different themes… they’re work but suck! I couldn’t work with any theme, so I kept changing themes…like a hundred times in 1 hour.

I start googled the problem….just what I normally did when I faced any problem in life… bad hair day, how to fix the broken camera or baby vaccination schedule, etc…by the way…Thanks Mrs. Google!

So I tried to fix the problems one solution after another and began messing up my blog even more. Finally I found one gentleman’s comment in a forum suggested to remove the new version and reinstall the old version. Simply easy and why wouldn’t I think of this before… I was so determined to get the new thing and forgot to just go back and work on what’s already good for me.

I installed the old version back on and yeah!!! Everything was back, but the setting was gone. I was happy enough to got up from the chair, after many hours long intense work to mess up my own blog, and cooked some lunch. It is so silly to admit that I don’t even remember the way it was and how it looked like before. I don’t know which font I used before or even how to set the font I want.

So here I am…. Picking up the little pieces I have left and trying to build my site again. So from all of these, I’ve learned to day is to do more researches before doing something I am not mastered about. What I rebuilt now couldn’t be like the old one…I have to live with it and try to improve it.

Hope you would never have your whole blog turn blank!

Take care,

    All’s well that ends well!

    Enjoy your weekend 🙂

  • Tes,

After all of the trouble you have been through, I hate to break bad news but your blog is still looking a bit messed up in my browser (Chrome). Same problem with Firefox. The categories are displayed on the left over top of your posts. It looks okay in Explorer however.

As a software developer, I know how frustrating these things can be. Just keep up the good work. I enjoy reading your blog.

    Good Luck.

Thanks for pointing that out. I would have never known what’s wrong because I’ve never used Chrome or Firefox. My husband helped me fixing that problem…apparently I’ve set a value in the sidebar which was disabled. I’ve checked it with Chrome and think it should be fine in Firefox, too. If you still see any error, please let me know. Thanks so much…it’s like you’ve just saved me from the bad accident.
      Have a nice weekend,

    Hi Tes,
I’m so glad your site is ok. I love reading your blog and look forward to your posts!
    Take care,

  • That must have been so terrifying, Tes, I’d better never try to fiddle with mine!

  • Oh Tes, I am so sorry to hear that you have had so many problems. Makes me think that mine will remain the same forever.

i actually enjoy your present design and layout. it is easier to browse and image loading time is shorter. the older one takes a long time to load b4 i can feast my eyes on your scrumptious food pix and this i encounter in many food blogs too.

so, job well done even though you went through some stress 🙂

    cheers, Ell

I am having the same problem with my blog. The homepage shows up blank in atahualpa. I have tried all of the solutions and nothing. I asked my host for help and they just set it to another theme. I H.A.T.E. it. I am in love with atahualpa and it is the only theme that I use on all of my blogs.

Oh, well, it will have to stay the way it is until I can figure out the solution to the problem.
