I love Thali style of serving food. You get a large plate filled with many delicious things in the small bowls and various types of Indian breads, rice, snacks and desserts keep coming to your plate.
Mayur Restaurant is a famous vegetarian restaurant, serving unlimited Thali. They have 3 locations in Camp Cantonment, Deccan Gymkhana and Viman Nagar in Pune. We visited a Viman Nagar branch a few weeks ago and did enjoy the meal very much.
Mayur is located in Lunkad Sky Max, Datta Mandir Chowk, Viman Nagar. The design and layout of the restaurant is quite clean and simple. There is outdoor seating area available if you like to enjoy your day with your family in the open air.
The service was very spontaneous. When we sat down, the waiters were eager to take our order. Our Thalis arrived quickly, and so many interesting and delicious things kept coming filling our plate.
There were various types of vegetarian side dishes, yogurt base delights, flat breads smearing in ghee and hot fluffy deep fried dough. Snacks and sweet were also added to the Thali. I can never get used to the taste of buttermilk which is always served with Thali. Everything else was wonderful though.
You can also try various special desserts. I picked Rashmalai, a delightful spongy creamy dessert topped with chopped nuts.
The food is unlimited and you can eat all you can.
I thought the food can use a little more flavor into it. It was quite bland for my taste. But I love the variety of things you can have there.
One unlimited vegetarian Thali is Rs. 300. In my opinion, it is a little high for vegetarian Thali for people like us who don’t eat so much in one meal. However, if you can eat a lot, then it’s worth the value of your money.
Our overall experience was good. It was enjoyable. We got to try a lot of vegetarian food that we don’t normally ordered or cook at home. The desserts were amazing, and everything else was delicious too.
What do you think of this place? Are you a fan of vegetarian food?
