Last Friday, we were invited for the Oktoberfest at the O Hotel in Koregaon Park, Pune. I was excited to try German food and drink and hang out with other bloggers and our friends from id8 Media Solutions. Sadik and Yaseen joined us at the table, too. It was such a cozy friendly event, and the experience we had there are worth sharing with everyone. It was nice to meet Aliasgar and Farzana again. Sapna from The Punekar also joined us at evening.
Chef Millind Patel has put up a great menu for the Oktoberfest at the O Hotel. He gave us a brief history about Oktoberfest and talked about German food and the culinary culture of this festival. He has such a great personality, and he was very friendly. When he talked about food, you could see how passionate he is as a chef. So when you come to the O Hotel, you will definitely always get good food.
“Oktoberfest is the world’s largest fair held annually in Munich, Bavaria, Germany. It is a 16-day festival running from late September to the first weekend in October with more than 6 million people from around the world attending the event every year.” Wikipedia.
Every country has their own version of Oktoberfest. Chef Millind Patel is keeping it simple an as authentic as possible.
Beers are the most important element of Oktoberfest. And at the O Hotel, they takes these things very seriously. There’re varieties of beers to choose from, and the flavors of the menu are crafted especially to go along with the drink.
I am not very familiar with German Cuisine. Before this event, I thought German food is all about sausages and pretzels, but this event is an eye-opening for me.
We had some soft pretzel and cheese bread to warm up our appetite.
These sauerkraut and potato balls are interesting. I had never tried anything like it before. They’re soft and comforting.
I love this BBQ chicken sausage bites with pineapple. It’s spicy and full of flavor.
And this dish is definitely a highlight of the menu. The veal is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.
This one is so light and fresh. I love that sassy lemon cream on top.
And the dessert is oh so yummy. Baked apple with cookie. It’s the perfect way to end the meal.
If you are a food lover and want to experience what I am talking about, head to the Oktoberfest at the O Hotel and give it a try. The ambience is nice and intimate. It’s a perfect place to have a good evening with friends and family and try something new.
How’s your October so far?
