Are you a fan of Lebanese Food? I am. Lebanese Food is a celebration of colors and flavors— fresh ingredients and spices come together to indulge the palette.
Right now at Le Brasserie, a charming restaurant in Le Meridien, Pune, is toasting Lebanese Food Festival. Wide array of authentic Lebanese dishes are spread throughout the restaurant.
There are abundant starter dishes from cold mezzeh (variety of small dishes) like Tabbouleh (salad made of bulgur, vegetable and herbs), Hummus and Moutabel (Spicy eggplant dip) to hot mezzeh like Falafal, Sambousek (a small meat pie), Fatayer (pie pastry stuffed with spinach or cheese), Kibbeh (Spiced lamb croquette), served with feta cheese Halloumi (unripen brined cheese) and Labaneh (strained yogurt). Hummus was luscious and creamy.
Eggplant dip was divine, and Tabbouleh is full of flavor and fresh. Baskets of bread and crispy warm pita bread are served on the side.
Kibbeh was my favorite bite of the entire starter menu. It’s perfectly seasoned and spiced; crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside.
The variety of main course was amazing. There were a lot of dishes to try. Most of them I have never even heard or seen before. I didn’t like every dish, and a reason for that must be because I don’t like rose water, and some of the dishes had them. I also didn’t like Shawarma; it was too dry and bland.
But I absolutely love beef in onion sauce despite people said they didn’t. It’s my favorite dish of the night. They were Lebanese Fish, Lamb cooked in yogurt sauce, Spiced Prawns, Fresh Broad Beans in Rice, Spicy Lamp and Rice, Chick Pea in Spinach, and the list goes on and on.
I really enjoyed them. They’re quite different, and it was a great experience to try them all.
The desserts were excellent. I haven’t tried any other Lebanese Dessert before but Baklava. Omali, Awamat, Kunata and Mahalabia are some of the desserts I indulged that day at Lebanese Food Festival.
Lebanese Food Festival is happening right now at La Brasserie, Le Meridien, Pune. I had a great time trying different dishes there. I love the flavor and the color of the spreads. There are array of exotic dishes to try. If you are a Lebanese food fan, this is absolutely worth checking out.
