Many of you who follow my blog for a while know my love of street food. Something about street food is very alluring. The sound, the scent, the displays and spread on the carts, and the immediacy that make street food very approachable by foodies around the world. And to be honest, the best dishes out there are served on the streets. That’s the reason why I love travel. Travelling exposes me to different cuisines and ingredients. When I travel, I explore local food and eat on the street. I always look for the famous food joints that filled with mobile food carts and little stores.
Novotel Pune is now hosting Street Food of the World Festival. Head there today because it is the last day of the festival. As the name suggests, Street Food of the World Festival features some of the most popular street food around the world. Chef Amit Chand, the executive chef of Novotel Pune handpicked the menu from various corners of the world for this festival.
The restaurant brings in food carts and uses the colorful ingredients to imitate the street vibe. The massive buffet dinner spread along the side.
You can start from the delicious chaat cart which was my favorite set up of the night.
We tried Dahi Puri, and it was as good as what you get from the street. Love it!
You can also get grilled corn and sizzling kebab from Indian street food section.
At Mexican street food cart, tacos, nachos and burritos are ready to be assembled and delivered to your table.
We tried some tacos, the shell was slightly hard, and the filling should have been more vibrant in term of flavors.
But the good things about live counters is you can ask the chef to prepare the dish as per your likeness.
At Penang street food cart, chicken satay, prawn satay, and other vegetarian options are on the skewers and ready to be cooked and served hot.
Both chicken satay and prawn satay were very impressive.
Khao Suey was quite good, but I missed that fatty flavor of chicken in the gravy.
At Mediterranean counter, there are grilled chicken, colorful cold mezze and shawarma.
At Chinese section, chicken dim sum, vegetable dim sum and fish in black pepper sauce, stir fried vegetable and stir fried noodle were on the menu. The chicken dim sum was delicious.
With the highlights of street food cart, the restaurant also offers wide range of salads, Indian main course mixed with a few continental main course.
The dessert spread was beautiful.
I loved Donut Pudding. It was decadent.
If you are a fan of street food, it’s worth checking out the festival. There are many dishes to try, and like strolling in the street food markets, you can eat your way through it and find what you like.
