Baking is one of the most loving and comforting forms of cooking. I love the smell of buttery cakes and cookies spreading all over the house when I bake. I love dessert, but to be honest here, baking is my weakness. I can go so wrong with so many things when it comes to baking because I never trust the recipes. It’s universal knowledge baking does need measurement and discipline, and when I think of that, it makes baking sounds so unattainable for me.
I love learning and improving myself. Baking is not my thing so I need to pay a lot of attention to be better at it. And when I had a chance to be a part of master-class ‘Bake Like A Pastry Chef’ by Chef de Partie Gerwin D’souza at Courtyard by Marriott Pune City Centre, I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
I had a great time at the master-class. The class was well-organised. The room was packed with baking enthusiasts. It was a fun and interactive. The talented young chef, Chef Gerwin is a passionate baker. European and Middle Eastern breads are his specialty. In this class, he taught us how to make muffins, tea cakes, New York Style Cheesecakes, Shortbread biscuits, oat cookies and egg-less Tiramisu.
We went through recipe by recipe and learn how to make these delicious treat. At the end of each session, we got to sample each goodie.
I absolutely love the New York Cheesecake, and I will definitely make one at home very soon. The sample was moist and decadent. The recipe is very easy to follow as well.
I also love to try to make the shortbread at home. These will be perfect to serve with tea when I have guests at home.
The master-class by Chef Gerwin at Courtyard by Marriott Pune City Centre had inspired and encouraged me to try more baking recipes. The chef showed me baking doesn’t need to be complicated. Now I’m feeling like I can bake more often.
