Hot appetizers— often packed with spices, colorful spread of salad and sides, aromatic main courses and a rainbow desserts to show off for. The concept of Sunday brunch in India is a little different. It’s an extravagant lunch buffet with generous pour of drinks all day long.
I am out for brunch around the city every Sunday, and this week, my foodie gang, Pune Foodiez, and I were invited to Sigree Global Grill in Pimpri to try out their menu.
With the drizzling weather, barbeque on the table for Sunday brunch sounded appropriate immediately. The heat and the smell of grilled meat made the table cozy and comforting. The restaurant layout is simple and light. There were live-cooking stations where pizzas, pastas and appetizers were made. The buffet was spread on one side.
A brunch menu at Sigree includes a welcome drink, House Salad (Mixed salad greens with coriander pesto), varieties of bread with Dips, vegetarian and non vegetarian grills on the table, pastas and pizzas, and an array of main courses and desserts.
We tried Harrissa BBQ Chicken, Teriyaki Chicken Wings, Lemon Garlic Fish, Bhatti Fish, Gosht Shammi Kebab, Jeera Murgh Tikka and Ajwani Jhinga. For vegetarian dishes, we had Corn BBQ Shashlik, Mathi BHatti Aloo, Mediterranean Cottage Cheese, Zucchini and Tomato Pizza, Pineapple in Plum Chili Sauce, Crispy Purple Yam and Herb Crushed Mushroom.
I ordered a mocktail called Curried Apple. It was actually better than I thought. The drink was sweet and refreshing, with apple and curry leaves flavor.
I love how the chicken was cooked at Sigree. They didn’t come out dry, but succulent and well-seasoned. I didn’t like any of the fish grills because basa is really not my choice of fish. One of the dish I really enjoyed was Pineapple in Plum Chili Sauce. The flavor was very interesting, and it gave a good kick to the taste buds.
To be honest, by the time to check out the main course, I was so full. I tried my best to enjoy the savory and tender Mutton Biryani, and it was worth stuffing my stomach with. Vegetable Thai green curry was not bad.
The dessert was average. They are good variety of cakes, cheese cakes, Indian dessert dishes and ice cream. I adored the Chocolate Mud Cake Mimi Pie. It’s soft and delectable.
My experience at Sigree Global Grill was wonderful. It’s always great to hangout with my foodie gang. The food was good, and the service was very attentive. The ambience is simple and relaxing. It’s probably one of the BBQ theme restaurants I would definitely go back again.
