Tofu with Crab

It’s funny I think I’m kind of mean to my kid sometimes. Yaseen is scared of crab. He is not a fan of any kind of shellfish either. But he loves tofu you see. So it’s so wicked of me to combine these two ingredients together. I love how tofu is so nutritious, but it can be paired with many other ingredients. I love tofu with seafood because the humble flavor of it allows the seafood flavor to shine through beautifully in the dish. Anyway, whatever I do, Yaseen will still eat tofu.

Sadly, I couldn’t get fresh crab meat for this dish, but if you can get some, it will be so much better. I use imitation crab sticks. It’s easy to use, and it tastes good as well. Try this one with a hot bowl of rice and chili sauce on the side, you will so love it. Oh, and if you’re vegetarian, try it with mushroom. My favorite is oyster mushroom for this dish.

Tofu with Crab


200 gm Tofu- cut into bite size

6 crab sticks- cut into small medium pieces (into 3 parts)

1 tsp minced garlic

1 tbsp oyster sauce

1 tbsp light soy sauce

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp ground white pepper

1 tbsp oil

½ cup vegetable stock

2 tsp corn flour-dissolved in little water

Some chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnishing


Heat oil in the pan over high heat, add garlic and fry until aromatic.

Add tofu, and sauté until the tofu turn golden brown on the outside.

Season with oyster sauce, light soy sauce and sugar.

Add vegetable stock, and bring to boil, then add crab sticks. Cook further for a minute.

Thicken the sauce with corn flour solution, add white pepper, and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with some rice.
