I still drink Milo. Milo and Ovaltine are chocolate and malt powder mix like Boost, Horlicks and Bournvita in India. We get Milo here in an imported section of our supermarket. These things are popular with kids, so some of my friends think it’s weird that I still drink it all the time.
To be honest, if I have to pick between coffee and Milo, it’s Milo any day. The smooth flavor of it reminds me of the early morning hours in Thailand. Swirls of chocolate scent purl from the cup. We usually flavor it with sweeten condensed milk. It’s very comforting to have a cup of hot Milo in the morning.
In summer, I make Milo Milkshake. In Thailand, you can have something like this on the streets or in night markets. It’s really perfect especially during April and May when the kids have long vacation. Oh and in Song Kran Festival, the cold drink stalls really pop up everywhere, and they sell Milo Milkshake! Here in my house, it’s a matter of a minute to have a freezing cold sweet Milo Milkshake in my hand. I need ice, Milo, milk and some condensed milk, and then tah dah! My Milo Milkshake is ready.
2 tbsp Milo powder
2 tbsp Sweeten condensed milk or to taste
1 cup Milk
1 cup Ice
Put all ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth. Serve chill and enjoy!
Be careful of brain freeze!
